A Deciphering Duty Calls…
To keep me out of trouble, Father gave me an ancient papyrus today that he feels certain is a copy of the Egyptian calendar. I am to decipher the hieroglyphs. Of course, he thinks this is a punishment because hieroglyphic writing is terribly difficult for him. But I love hieroglyphs, so I’m very happy to do it. Plus, it’s gives me a chance to prove how useful I can be. Something everyone around here tends to forget.

Sounds interesting. My friend Shayda is coming over to my house later, and we will probably leave another comment. See you soon!

Theo,
Is there any way for you to share some of the hieroglyphs with us? I think it would be fun to see them.

Hi Maggie!
On my Bookshelf page, there are lots of links to things pertaining to ancient Egypt. Here is a link to a page that shows the hieroglyphs:

If you’d like to type your name in and see what it would look like in hieroglyphs, then go here:

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Theo,
That was really cool. My big sister remembers using hieroglyphs in school, before we homeschooled. We noticed that the “i” and the “e” are the same symbols, and the “n” looks like a river, maybe for the Nile?
Thanks for telling me about those sites.
Your friend,
Maggie

I hope some day to learn another language (Like hieroglyphs or Japanese. My favorites!). But for now I just have boring old vocabulary for school. I have not, do not, and never will like school. Except for science/band/lanuage arts. I DON’T WANNA GO TO SCHOOL!!!!! ;3

I like school sometimes–only because I get to see my friends. But creative writing, art, and Challenge (Gifted) are okay! Oh well, need to go! Bye!
