We Have A Winner!
Heavens! This was hard! There were so many lovely entries!
In the end, I had to let Isis pick. I wadded up each entry into a little paper ball and tossed them (gently!) at Isis. The one she batted at first was the winner.
And it was…
Leximel! For her brilliant amulet that would help one stay awake and fight off fatigue. As she explains, it would be wonderfully useful in secret missions and for late nights–both of which happen to me with an alarming amount of regularity!!
Thank you all so much for participating! We shall have to do it again soon, so there will be lots of chances to win!
(And thank you to Isis, too, for helping.)

Theo, guess what! I’m in an acting class in summer school, and the teacher said we could try writing a script, so I decided to write mine about you! I won’t say what it’s about specifically because it will give away the ending of the book.

Congratulations Leximel! I really liked your entry! Theo, could you pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaase tell me the name of your second book? That would be very convenient. Thanks!!!!

Paige, how wonderful that you’re writing a script about me! And that’s very considerate of you to not give away the ending! Thank you!
Shayda, the name of the next book is Theodosia and the Staff of Osiris. Osiris is the Egyptian god of the underworld, in case you were wondering…

Thanks, Theodosia. Paige and I went to the bookstore to go buy the last Harry Potter book, but we needed a wristband to get it. At least we were there for midnight! We are convinced that now Harry Potter is ending, you’ll be the next big thing. We’ll try to spread the word!!!

Hi Shayda! Hi Paige!
I’m so sorry about needing a wristband to get a copy of the last Harry Potter book! Who knew?
And, most importantly, thanks for your belief in my books and your willingness to spread the word! You girls are simply brilliant!

you can try using leximel’s amulet recipe for a late night de-cursing spree, then write back with a story about how well it worked! we- that is, Shayda, Anna and I- want to hear more stories!

Oh, just wanted to let you know, the wristbands were available to get earlier on in the store at about 10 maybe? Well, maybe only in mine then, and maybe only in Borders where crazed people run around asking “WHO ARE YOU DRESSED UP AS? I AM GINNY! WHO ARE YOU?” (as we all wore costumes there) and maybe only at stores where people dump Sno-Caps onto the carpet and commence to eat them (courtesy of my friend, Keren). Never mind.
Bye!

Paige? The name of the next book is Theodosia and the Staff of Osiris.
I’m a little doubtful you didn’t know before I told you this.

Hey Kaitlyn!
Um, well, Paige said that a PRETTY long time ago. I don’t think she knew that when she said that. Sorry! Bye!

Hi Kyra,
I thought so. I just wanted to say SOMETHING to get a reply. Ok, I’ll admit, that was a bit odd just to say something. You KNOW how I like replies.
Kyra, have you noticed, that Theodosia seems awfully busy. Do you think it’s because of that curse she mentioned???
I am in NYC right now. With my mom at work. Geeze. I seem to be place after place in the last few days.
Ok got to go!!
Sincerely,
Kaitlyn, age 9
and is in 4th grade
and is at her mom’s work place
and is younger than most of her friends
and is bored
and is gone (you see a cloud of dust)
P.S. Sorry. I liked your idea. Heh heh.

what was implied by ‘next big thing’ was, like HP, EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT IT AND (nearly) EVERYONE LOVES IT!!! I’m talking MOVIES (:P) TOYS (why did I say that? oh yeah. my brother poked me in the eye with a HP wand. maybe I can poke him in the eye with a Was Scepter. (wishful thinking)) HUGE POSTERS ANNOUNCING EACH AND EVERY NEW BOOK (yay?) THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ON THE WEBSITE EVERY SECOND (:P)
yeah…

Kaitlyn, you hit the nail on the head! I’ve been unbelievably busy with the cursed scarab. I hope to be able to tell you about it as soon as I’ve got it all taken care of.
In the meantime, I’m so sorry you were so bored. Believe me, I understand how tedious it can be to be stuck at one’s parents workplace!
And Paige, I adore your vision for my books! The next big thing indeed!

I agree, too.

Theodosia–
I’m having a birthday party soon (a little late, my birthday was on Jan 1st) and I’m doing it with an Egypt theme. Could you give me some ideas when you have the time?? I’d REALLY apriciate it.
